McCartney Kessler Advances to Quarterfinals at L’Open 35 de Saint Malo

SAINT MALO, France — American tennis player McCartney Kessler defeated French wildcard Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah 7-6 (6), 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon in the Round of 16 at L'Open 35 de Saint Malo.

Kessler, the tournament’s top seed and currently ranked No. 43 in the world, showed strong performance after a previous victory over French qualifier Yara Bartashevich, where she won 6-4, 6-1.

In contrast, Rakotomanga Rajaonah, ranked No. 246, reached the Round of 16 following a comeback win against qualifier Tessah Andrianjafitrimo, finishing that match 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.

With this victory, Kessler will face the winner of the upcoming match between Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet and Swiss player Viktorija Golubic, the No. 7 seed. The quarterfinal match is set to be an exciting contest as Kessler continues her pursuit of the title at this prestigious event.
