Rory Mcilroy Boston Common Golf Match Action

JUPITER, Fla. — Rory McIlroy‘s Boston Common Golf and Tiger Woods‘ Jupiter Links Golf Club have been eliminated from the inaugural season of the new golf league after failing to secure a playoff spot.

In a crucial matchup on Monday, McIlroy’s team needed a win against New York Golf Club to advance but fell short, losing 10-6. New York’s Cameron Young and Rickie Fowler orchestrated a dramatic late-game comeback, claiming five points in the final four holes.

Boston had one last chance to tie the match in the final hole, but New York’s Xander Schauffele sealed the victory with a precise chip from seven feet. “After the start we had, just coming into the season, [the goal] was trying to get in the playoffs,” Fowler explained. “After going 0-2, we were just trying to dig and find something. We’re just starting to find some form, so it’s good timing.”

With their playoff hopes dashed, Jupiter Links GC is now unable to reach the postseason, even with their remaining match against Atlanta Drive Golf Club scheduled for Wednesday. This sets the stage for New York Golf Club to compete against Los Angeles Golf Club, while The Bay Golf Club will face Atlanta Drive in the semifinal matches.

The semifinals are slated for March 17-18, with the championship match set for the following week, promising exciting conclusions to the inaugural league season.
