Mehidy Hasan Miraz 300 Wickets Celebration

Mehidy Hasan Miraz has secured his place in the annals of Bangladesh cricket history by becoming the fourth bowler from his nation to take 300 wickets in international cricket. The 26-year-old all-rounder achieved this milestone on the fourth day of the second Test against India, held at Green Park in Kanpur.

Joining an elite group of Bangladeshi bowlers, Mehidy follows in the footsteps of Shakib Al Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, and Mustafizur Rahman in reaching this landmark. Shakib Al Hasan leads the list with 712 wickets, followed by Mashrafe Mortaza with 389 and Mustafizur Rahman with 323 wickets respectively.

Mehidy reached the 300-wicket milestone in his 169th innings since his international debut in 2016. His 300th wicket was Akash Deep, rounding off a performance with figures of 6.4 overs, 41 runs for 4 wickets in the innings.

In the match, Bangladesh was dismissed for 233 runs in 74.2 overs with Mominul Haque Showrabh contributing a century. In response, India declared their innings at 285 for nine, obtaining a 52-run lead, thanks to significant contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, who scored 72 and 68 respectively.

Despite experiencing difficulties in the previous Test in Chennai, Mehidy demonstrated improved performance in Kanpur. His notable spells included dismissing Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. He also claimed the wicket of KL Rahul, who scored a brisk 68 runs off 43 balls, before capturing Akash Deep as his landmark 300th wicket.

Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan, another key figure in Bangladesh’s bowling arsenal, recorded figures of 11 overs for 78 runs with four wickets.
