Memphis Grizzlies Hold Off Dallas Mavericks for 102-96 Victory
DALLAS, TX — The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Dallas Mavericks 102-96 on Saturday night, clinching their first back-to-back wins of the season. The Grizzlies improved their record to 6-11 while the Mavericks dropped to 5-13.
Santi Aldama led the Grizzlies with 20 points, making crucial shots late in the game, including a driving shot that helped Memphis secure the win. Aldama also added eight rebounds and four assists. Zach Edey contributed with a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
Klay Thompson was the standout player for the Mavericks, scoring 22 points and making six three-pointers. Despite his efforts, Dallas struggled with their shooting, ending the game at 38.5% from the field.
The first half saw a tight contest, with Dallas slightly leading at halftime by 47-43. However, the Grizzlies found their footing in the third quarter, taking a lead of nine points before Dallas responded with a few quick baskets.
The game featured a chippy fourth quarter, with both teams receiving technical fouls. The tension boiled over when Aldama’s basket gave Memphis a crucial lead. After a timeout called by Mavericks’ coach Jason Kidd, Dallas managed only one field goal in the last minute.
Injuries also impacted both teams, with Memphis losing Jock Landale to a neck injury and Dallas seeing their roster burdened with injuries, complicating their strategies on both ends of the court.
The Grizzlies will host the Denver Nuggets on Monday, aiming for their third straight win. The Mavericks will face the Los Angeles Clippers the same day in a challenging matchup.
