Keith Hernandez Mets Game Booth

MINNEAPOLIS — New York Mets analyst Keith Hernandez made headlines for an unexpected moment during a live broadcast on Tuesday night. While commentating the game against the Minnesota Twins, Hernandez experienced a sudden episode that caused him to briefly pause mid-sentence, resulting in a humorous interaction with play-by-play announcer Gary Cohen.

The incident occurred in the eighth inning as Hernandez praised Mets third baseman Mark Vientos for his defensive skills. As he was explaining a key play, Hernandez startled the viewers and his co-commentator by exclaiming, “Excuse me,” followed by a quick revelation, “I just had a little upchuck.”

Cohen responded with concern, asking, “You okay over there?” to which Hernandez, chuckling, assured him, “Yeah, I just had a little upchuck. It just came out of nowhere, right in the middle of my sentence. Sorry. I apologize.”

This moment caught the attention of both fans and the SNY broadcast crew, who immediately zoomed in on Hernandez in the booth. Fortunately, Hernandez managed to contain his moment of discomfort, keeping the situation light-hearted as he and Cohen engaged in a playful banter about the potential cause of the incidental upchuck.

“What did you eat before the game?” Cohen inquired, to which Hernandez revealed that he had consumed chicken and mashed potatoes, suggesting that the vinaigrette dressing from his salad may have caused his sudden stomach distress. “The vinaigrette, you know how it could get ya roiled up,” Hernandez explained, motioning animatedly.

Despite the minor mishap, Mets fans can be assured that Hernandez will be back in the booth for Wednesday’s game against the Twins, as he prepares for a series finale that could mark the team’s fifth consecutive series win this season.
