Mets’ Pete Alonso and Wife Expect First Child Together

NEW YORK, N.Y. — New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso and his wife, Haley, shared exciting news Saturday morning: they are expecting their first child. The couple announced the pregnancy through a heartfelt Instagram post featuring several ultrasound images along with a touching caption: “baby alonso 2025 🤍 we can’t wait for this next chapter of becoming mom and dad,” wrote Haley.
In the photos, Haley, whose maiden name is Walsh, wore a flowing white dress, while Alonso donned black pants and a T-shirt. The couple appeared to be enjoying a picturesque Florida backdrop, complete with palm trees and water.
The couple has been together since 2015 when they first met during Alonso’s summer baseball stint in the Cape Cod League. They maintained a long-distance relationship while completing their college degrees at the University of Florida and Michigan State University, respectively. Alonso proposed in November 2018, and they married in 2021 in Tampa, Florida.
As Alonso embraces his new responsibilities as a father, he is also focused on the upcoming Major League Baseball season. After a successful previous year that saw the Mets advance to the National League Championship Series, he aims for a World Series title. Alonso recently signed a two-year, $54 million contract extension with the Mets that includes an opt-out provision after the 2025 season.
Alonso has started the season strong, batting .292 with three home runs and 10 RBIs over the first seven games, including a notable performance during the Mets’ home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays, where New York secured a 5-0 victory. During that game, Alonso hit his third homer of the season, bringing his career total to 229, placing him in pursuit of Darryl Strawberry’s franchise record of 252.
Haley’s exact due date and the gender of their baby have not been disclosed. The couple received numerous congratulatory messages, including one from Mets teammate Katia Lindor, wife of shortstop Francisco Lindor, who expressed her excitement in the comment section: “So happy for you guys!”
As the MLB community buzzes about the personal news from one of its stars, Alonso’s focus remains on the season ahead while navigating this new chapter in his family life.
