Mets and Phillies Resume NL Division Series at Citi Field
The National League Division Series (NLDS) between the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies is set to continue at Citi Field on Tuesday, following an exciting first two games in Philadelphia. The series, which is a best-of-five matchup, stands tied at one game apiece.
The Mets claimed victory in the opening game on Saturday. However, the Phillies responded in Game 2, overcoming deficits of 3-0 and 4-3. Ultimately, the Phillies clinched the game with a thrilling win after a 6-4 lead in the ninth inning was nullified, managing to secure the victory in the bottom of the ninth.
On the mound for the Mets is left-hander Francisco Lindor, boasting a record of 12-6 and an ERA of 3.47 this season, marking their first home game since September 22. The Phillies will counter with right-hander Aaron Nola, who holds a 14-8 record and a 3.57 ERA. Notably, Nola has a respectable ERA of 3.28 across 14 career starts at Citi Field.
Before Tuesday’s game, Mets shortstop Brandon Nimmo emphasized the significance of concentrating on current performances and not dwelling on past achievements. “It’s definitely going to bring a different energy being home here, for sure,” Nimmo remarked. “But at the end of the day, we were giving everything we had on the road, and we’re going to do the same thing here at home.”
Reflecting on the playoff atmosphere, Nimmo added, “This is what everybody wants out of October baseball. I think we put on quite a show for everybody in attendance and everybody watching on TV. It’s really fun to play baseball like this.”
The lively atmosphere of playoffs was echoed by Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader, who humorously referred to the team’s recent stretch of games as a “traveling circus,” given the intense engagement and excitement surrounding their postseason performance.
Tuesday’s Game 3 is scheduled to begin at 5:08 p.m. Eastern Time, with fans eagerly anticipating a continuation of the thrilling performances seen so far in the series.
