Miami QB Beck Opens Up About Breakup and Recovery Journey

MIAMI, Fla. — Miami Hurricanes quarterback Tyler Beck has publicly addressed his breakup with basketball player and influencer Haley Cavinder. In a profile published Wednesday, Beck spoke about his emotional recovery following the end of their relationship.
The 22-year-old athlete revealed that the separation, announced by Cavinder in April, has spurred him to do some soul searching. He told ESPN, “You make mistakes as a person, but it sucks that you have to go through something like that with someone that you care about, and now it’s all over the Internet.”
Rumors about the breakup circulated quickly, but both Beck and Cavinder chose not to reveal specific reasons for their split. Beck noted, “Half of what you see in the media is true. Half of what you see is not true. So, people pick their side of the story and run with it. The people that know the truth know the truth.”
Since their breakup, Beck has not communicated with Cavinder and described the past months as “difficult.” He reflected on how he has learned about himself during this time, stating, “I’ve been able to connect to myself more, and find who I am, and really do some soul searching.”
Despite the challenges, Beck expressed a sense of gratitude for the experience, saying, “It’s hard to say that I’m thankful for it all, but I am because I wouldn’t be the person that I am today without all of these things that have happened.”
Beck and Cavinder began dating in July 2024, shortly before Cavinder removed all pictures of Beck from her Instagram account and unfollowed him in March 2025. This prompted fans to speculate about their relationship status. On the same day, Cavinder’s twin sister, Haley, shared a cryptic message on TikTok that further fueled breakup rumors.
Haley said, “If your sister comes to you or your friend or someone that’s really important in your life and they have a gut feeling about a relationship or a friendship…trust your dang sister.”
As Beck moves forward, he focuses on his personal growth and recovery from a season-ending elbow injury he suffered last December.
