No. 2 Miami Falls to Unranked Louisville in Upsetting Defeat

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Miami Hurricanes faced a shocking defeat against the unranked Louisville Cardinals on Saturday night, ending their undefeated season. Miami quarterback Tyler Beck threw four interceptions, including the final one that sealed the loss with just 32 seconds remaining.
The game began poorly for the Hurricanes as Louisville quickly took a 14-0 lead. Miami coach Mario Cristobal expressed frustration with his team’s execution and discipline after the loss, stating, “That’s a really poor job of execution and discipline. That’s all of us — every player and every coach. We’re all disappointed. We’re all pissed.”
Beck’s interceptions were critical, with one thrown on a fourth-down attempt when the offense was struggling to recover. Though the 10th-ranked Hurricanes attempted to rally, they were ultimately unable to secure a win, resulting in their 10th loss as a favorite under Cristobal.
Charleston safety, who intercepted Beck’s last pass, praised Louisville’s game plan, saying, “They had a great plan. We weren’t prepared for it.” The Cardinals had developed strategies that caught Miami’s defense off guard, effectively stifling their gameplay.
Despite their poor performance, Beck was optimistic about the future, stating, “It’s a good thing we play 12 games and not just one… I have to prepare better, I have to play better, and I’m going to do that and come back with fire.”
Coach Cristobal focused on the missed opportunities that plagued Miami throughout the game, highlighting the need for improvement. “You better go out and do something about it,” he said. “That’s what real men do, and that’s what we have to do.”
