Miami Forces Game 3 Against Cardinals in Super Regional Showdown

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Miami Hurricanes defeated the Louisville Cardinals 9-6 on Saturday, June 7, extending their super regional series to a decisive Game 3.
In a thrilling match, the Hurricanes overcame an early deficit to stay alive in the NCAA baseball tournament. A key moment came in the bottom of the eighth inning when Miami’s Daniel Cuvet hit his 18th home run of the season, a three-run shot that brought the Hurricanes back from behind.
Louisville led earlier in the game, with Eddie King Jr. hitting two home runs to tie the score at multiple points. However, Miami capitalized on mistakes, including pitching changes that allowed them to seize the lead late in the game.
Miami’s victory means the two teams will face off again at noon on Sunday, June 8, in a winner-takes-all game. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN.
“We knew we had to fight back,” Cuvet said after the game. “Everyone stepped up tonight, and we’re ready for Game 3.”
The Cardinals had a moment of hope, bringing the tying run to the plate with none out in the ninth inning, but Miami’s closer Brian Walters managed to retire the side without any more runs scoring.
With the super regional series tied at one game each, the pressure mounts as both teams aspire to reach the Men’s College World Series in Omaha.
