TALLAHASSEE, Florida — Micahi Danzy has quickly made a name for himself in the 2025 college football season as a standout player for Florida State University. The former Florida High sprinter made headlines earlier this year, not only for his stunning performance on the track but for how his skills translate to the football field.

Danzy, who won the 400-meter dash at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championship with a historic time of 44.38 seconds, is now successfully juggling roles as both a football player and a track star. His journey began this spring, where he was primarily focused on learning the nuances of head coach Gus Malzahn’s offensive strategies during football’s spring practice, but he didn’t let an opportunity pass him by.

Despite spending limited time on the field during spring practices, Danzy has already proven his worth in football with electrifying plays. He scored touchdowns in each of Florida State’s first two games, showcasing his remarkable speed and agility. In his first touch of the season, he executed a stunning 32-yard end-around run against Alabama, which put FSU ahead for good.

“I showed my running-back self in that moment, trusting my speed and using my thighs for power,” Danzy said. “It just shows how strong I am in that moment.”

Head coach Mike Norvell expressed his confidence in Danzy, noting, “We never would’ve moved him if we didn’t believe in what it could be. He’s somebody that has great ball skills, great speed, and we see him as a dynamic threat on the field.”

Danzy continued to impress in the following match against East Texas A&M with another impressive 53-yard run. He also leads the Seminoles with 109 rushing yards on just four carries and has contributed two catches for 14 yards, making a significant impact early in the season.

Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn highlighted not only Danzy’s offensive skills but also his blocking abilities, which have proven essential in setting up other plays. “I was real proud of him. He played pretty good without the ball, too,” Malzahn said after the Alabama game.

As Danzy works to balance both football and track, he’s optimistic about his future. “With football, you never know what to expect,” he remarked, reflecting on his transition into the football realm. “It was crazy, a lot of things running through my mind.”

As the season progresses, Danzy’s contributions promise to create a dynamic presence within the FSU football program.
