LOS ANGELES, California — Former Mount Pleasant Tiger Michael Kopech threw a scoreless inning of relief in the Los Angeles Dodgers‘ 11-5 victory against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday.

Kopech, a right-hander, entered the game during the eighth inning. He quickly found his rhythm, striking out Jerar Encarnacion on his first pitch and then getting Tyler Fitzgerald to ground out to shortstop.

Andrew Knizner was called out on strikes, completing a rapid 1-2-3 inning for Kopech and the Dodgers. The righty threw a total of 15 pitches, with an impressive 12 of those being strikes.

The Dodgers, currently holding a record of 42-29, are at the top of the NL West standings. They will begin a new series at home against the San Diego Padres on Monday.
