Michigan Edges TCU 67-63 in Nail-Biting College Basketball Clash
FORT WORTH, Texas — No. 6 Michigan narrowly defeated TCU 67-63 on Friday night in a thrilling college basketball matchup.
The Wolverines, now 3-0 for the season, were led by transfer forwards Lendeborg and Johnson, both of whom recorded double-doubles. Lendeborg, a transfer from UAB, scored 14 points while pulling down 10 rebounds. Johnson, hailing from Illinois, contributed 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Michigan faced a tough challenge, overcoming 22 turnovers during the game. They managed to hold off TCU, who had been formidable at home, winning six of their previous seven games when hosting a top-10 team.
With just over six minutes remaining, McKenney made a pivotal three-point play, pushing Michigan ahead 51-49, a lead they would not relinquish. Following this, Johnson scored a layup, and then added a strong inside basket to help extend Michigan’s lead to 61-54.
TCU’s leading scorer for the night, who had 15 points, struggled late in the game as the team missed 11 of their last 12 shots during a six-minute stretch. Another player from TCU added 12 points, including 10 rebounds.
Michigan had initially trailed by eight points but rallied with a 10-0 run in the first half. Lendeborg sparked this run with a jumper and a three-point play, setting the stage for a thrilling game.
Next, Michigan will host Middle Tennessee on Wednesday, while TCU will seek redemption against Kansas City as they close out their five-game home stretch.
