Milan Comes Back to Beat Bologna 3-1 in Serie A Clash

MILAN, Italy (AP) — In a thrilling Serie A match on May 9, 2025, AC Milan staged a comeback to defeat Bologna 3-1 at San Siro. The win leaves Milan just two points behind Bologna as both teams prepare for a crucial Coppa Italia final next week.
The match began with a scoreless first half where neither team managed to convert their chances. Orsolini put Bologna ahead in the 49th minute, seemingly putting the hosts in a strong position. However, soon after, Milan head coach Sergio Conceicao made impactful substitutions, bringing on Santiago Gimenez and others to change the game’s momentum.
Gimenez quickly responded, scoring a dramatic equalizer in the 73rd minute. His left-footed strike created chaos in the Bologna defense, which had struggled to contain the team’s attacking play since his arrival. Just minutes later, Christian Pulisic scored to give Milan the lead before Gimenez capped off the comeback with a second goal in stoppage time.
“I am here to help the team, whether from the start or from the bench,” Gimenez said after the match. “Tonight, we showed our character and capability to fight back.”
Bologna fought hard to regain control of the game but could not find the net again. Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan had crucial saves, particularly in the first half, to keep his team in the game.
As the match concluded, the atmosphere in San Siro turned electric. Milan supporters celebrated their team’s ability to come back once more this season. The victory not only boosts Milan’s morale but sets the stage for their upcoming encounter at the Olimpico for the Coppa Italia final on May 14.
“Every match is important for us now,” Conceicao said. “This win keeps us on track as we aim for a strong finish to the season.”
