AC Milan Intensifies Pursuit of Feyenoord Star Santiago Gimenez
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands — AC Milan is ramping up efforts to sign Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, with negotiations entering a critical phase ahead of a potential €35-40 million deal. The 23-year-old Mexican international has already agreed to personal terms with the Rossoneri, but Feyenoord’s reluctance to sell has complicated the transfer.
Gimenez, who has scored 15 goals in 18 appearances this season, is eager to join Milan and play in the upcoming derby against Inter on February 2. His agent, Raffaella Pimenta, is leveraging a promise made by Feyenoord last summer to allow his departure if a major European club came calling. Milan’s initial bid was rejected, but a second offer is expected soon, contingent on the club’s Champions League performance.
“Everyone knows Nottingham Forest made an offer to Feyenoord,” Gimenez revealed on the We Are Brave Podcast. “Feyenoord were unconvinced, so they asked me what I wanted to do. I decided to wait, but nothing happened. When Milan called, I thought, ‘wow.'”
Milan’s CEO, Giorgio Furlani, is reportedly working intensely on the deal, with a decision expected within 72 hours. The club aims to structure the payment with bonuses, as Feyenoord has set a €40 million price tag. Gimenez, who holds an Italian passport, would not occupy a non-EU player slot at San Siro.
The striker has put other offers from France, the Premier League, and the Saudi Pro League on hold, signaling his preference for Milan. However, Feyenoord’s stance remains firm, and the outcome of negotiations could hinge on Milan’s ability to meet the Dutch club’s demands.
