Milan Targets Two Strikers Ahead of 2025 Season

MILAN, Italy – March 20, 2025 – AC Milan has identified two potential backup strikers for the upcoming 2025-26 season, according to Tuttosport. The Serie A club is reportedly interested in Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca and Lecce’s Nikola Krstovic as alternatives to Santiago Gimenez.
Both Lucca and Krstovic have been assessed with transfer fees around €25 million each. Prior to securing Gimenez from Feyenoord in January 2025, Milan had also evaluated the prospects of these players.
This season, Lucca has made a significant impact, scoring 10 goals in 28 Serie A matches, which has drawn interest not only from Milan but also from Premier League side Nottingham Forest. Milan hopes former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s influence can persuade the 24-year-old Lucca to join the Rossoneri.
Krstovic mirrors Lucca’s performance, netting 10 goals in 29 appearances this term, further illustrating the caliber of players Milan is considering as backup strikers.
Currently, Milan relies on Tammy Abraham as Gimenez’s backup. However, Abraham is on loan from Roma and is unlikely to return next season, especially if he does not adjust his €5 million-a-year salary.
In the latest Serie A match, Milan showcased their resilience by overcoming a 1-0 deficit to secure a 2-1 victory against Como. The home side took the lead in the 33rd minute through Lucas Da Cunha, but Milan responded with goals from Christian Pulisic and Tijjani Reijnders in the second half.
After the game, Milan coach Sergio Conceicao addressed the struggles of Santiago Gimenez, who has not scored in nearly a month. “He’s working hard and is focused during training,” said Conceicao. “Adapting to Serie A isn’t easy, but we believe he will turn things around.”
Looking ahead, Milan currently sits seventh in the Serie A table, with a challenging match against Napoli on the horizon after the international break.
