Miles Sanders’ Future with Carolina Panthers Uncertain Amid Trade Rumors
Carolina Panthers running back Miles Sanders is reportedly available on the trade market, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. This development comes as the Panthers are adjusting their backfield dynamics with the return of rookie Jonathan Brooks from a non-football injury list and Chuba Hubbard handling the majority of the workload.
Sanders, who signed a four-year, $25.4 million contract with the Panthers in 2023, has not met expectations. He has played just 35% of snaps this season and has accumulated only 98 rush yards on 30 attempts, scoring one touchdown. In his 22 career games with Carolina, Sanders has averaged a mere 3.3 yards per attempt.
The Panthers, currently sitting at 1-5 through six weeks, are considering being active ahead of the November 5 trade deadline to acquire future draft capital in exchange for veterans. While head coach Dave Canales did not rule out moving players, ESPN‘s David Newton reported that the team is not interested in trading Chuba Hubbard, who has been performing well with an average of 5.6 yards per carry this season.
Sanders’ situation contrasts sharply with his performance in 2021 when he rushed for 1,269 yards and earned a Pro Bowl nod as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. A possible change of scenery could benefit Sanders, who is only two years removed from his standout season).
