Minnesota Wild Recalls Forward Travis Boyd from Iowa Under Emergency Conditions
The Minnesota Wild announced on November 22, 2024, that they have recalled forward Travis Boyd from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Iowa Wild, under emergency conditions. This move comes as the Wild prepare to face the Calgary Flames on November 23.
Boyd, 31, has been performing well in the AHL this season, recording 11 points (2 goals, 9 assists) in 13 games for Iowa. He leads the Iowa Wild in assists and ranks second in points. Additionally, Boyd has scored one power-play goal, taken 23 shots, and accumulated eight penalty minutes during his time with Iowa this season.
In his NHL career, Boyd has played for several teams, including the Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and Arizona Coyotes. He was a member of the Washington Capitals’ 2018 Stanley Cup Championship team and has tallied 118 points (47 goals, 71 assists) in 296 NHL games across seven seasons. Boyd also has significant experience in the AHL, with 183 points (59 goals, 124 assists) in 234 games with the Hershey Bears and Iowa Wild.
Boyd was originally drafted by the Washington Capitals in the sixth round (No. 177 overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft. He signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Minnesota Wild on July 1, 2024, and wears the number 72 jersey for the team.
