Missouri Football Brady Cook Injury

Missouri‘s quarterback, Brady Cook, was forced to leave the field with an apparent ankle injury following a sack in the first quarter of the game. Although Cook’s injury initially seemed to occur without contact, he went down before the opposing pass rushers reached him, resulting in a significant loss of yardage during the play.

Cook, the starting quarterback for Missouri, jogged off the field at about three-quarters speed. However, his departure occurred just prior to a third-down snap, after which he immediately headed towards the locker room, appearing hurt. Observers noted his exit and awaited further updates.

The ESPN broadcasting team, tasked with relaying game updates, quickly reported on Cook’s condition. Reporter Taylor McGregor provided an update, stating, “It is good news regarding Brady Cook. I’m told it is an ankle injury. He went into the locker room. They are currently taping up that ankle, but the expectation is he will return to this game.”

Before sustaining the injury, Cook completed 3 of 4 passes for 37 yards in the first quarter while rushing three times, albeit for a loss of six yards. Missouri had gained a 3-0 lead midway through the first quarter after securing a field goal on the opening drive.

If Cook is limited in any capacity during the game, Missouri could face challenges on offense, as the team has struggled to find rhythm in recent contests. Brady Cook serves not only as the team’s leading passer but also ranks as its third-leading rusher. He has completed 119 of 184 passes for a total of 1,351 yards and seven touchdowns this season, with only one interception. Additionally, Cook has rushed for 124 yards and recorded four rushing touchdowns, showcasing his dual-threat capabilities when needed.

Following Cook’s exit, Drew Pyne, a transfer from Notre Dame, took over as quarterback. Pyne has completed 19 of 22 passes this season for 128 yards, without any touchdowns or interceptions, marking a reliable option in Cook’s absence.
