Mitchell Robinson Cleared for Knicks Clash Against Clippers on Monday

NEW YORK, N.Y. — New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is set to return for Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers after clearing the injury report. Robinson missed the previous game against the Los Angeles Lakers due to a left ankle issue, but his return comes at a crucial time for the struggling Knicks.
Robinson, who has played an average of 13.3 minutes per game over the last four outings, has recorded 5.3 points and 3.8 rebounds in that span. His presence is expected to augment the Knicks’ defensive efforts as they face a Clippers team looking to extend their modest win streak.
The Clippers are coming off a surprise victory against the Detroit Pistons, and with Monday’s game set for 10:30 p.m. EST, they hope to carry that momentum against a Knicks squad that has been inconsistent this season. However, the Knicks will be on the second night of a back-to-back following their overtime battle against the Lakers.
Both teams are dealing with various injury challenges. The Clippers’ injury report includes Norman Powell, out with right hamstring soreness and undergoing re-evaluation in 10 days, along with Ben Simmons and Cam Christie, who are both unavailable due to injuries and G League assignments, respectively. Meanwhile, Kawhi Leonard and Derrick Jones Jr. have been cleared to play.
On the Knicks’ side, Jalen Brunson is out due to a right ankle sprain sustained against the Lakers, while Robinson’s condition led to concerns after he underwent surgery on his left ankle earlier this season. Precious Achiuwa is also questionable with left hamstring tightness and several other players are affected by G League assignments.
“It’s good to have Mitch back. His impact is felt on both ends of the floor,” said Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau, highlighting Robinson’s defensive prowess and ability to alter shots. With the season drawing to a close, every game carries significant weight, and Robinson’s return could be pivotal.
The matchup between the Knicks and Clippers promises to be a compelling battle, with both teams looking to stabilize their seasons as the playoffs approach.
