MMA Legends Shine in Inaugural Dirty Boxing Event in Miami

MIAMI, Fla. — Former UFC stars Yoel Romero and Andrei Arlovski made headlines Saturday night at the inaugural Dirty Boxing event at The Hangar at Regatta Harbour, showcasing their elite skills with decisive victories over their opponents. Romero defeated Ras Hylton by knockout in the third round, while Arlovski overpowered Terrance Hodges, calling for a doctor’s stoppage in the second round.
The main card featured several thrilling matchups, with Romero’s performance bringing the crowd to its feet during his main event clash. The 46-year-old Romero delivered a powerful performance, ending the bout at 2:26 of round three with a knockout punch that left Hylton unable to continue.
"I am grateful for my fans and excited to put on a show tonight," Romero said in a post-fight interview. "This is just the beginning for Dirty Boxing, and I see a bright future for this sport."
In the co-main event, Arlovski, a former UFC heavyweight champion, faced Hodges. The fight ended prematurely at 2:00 of round two when the ringside physician assessed Hodges and deemed him unable to continue due to a series of unanswered strikes dealt by Arlovski.
"The most important thing is health; it was the right call," Arlovski commented after the match. "I came here to compete, and I’m happy to contribute to this new chapter in combat sports."
The event also featured standout performances from Ulysses Diaz, who won by TKO against Brian Maxwell just 1:22 into the first round, and Rob Perez, who earned a split decision victory. Key preliminary fights included Alexander Schenk decisively defeating Tristan Gallichan and Jeff Craig securing a TKO victory after 25 seconds into the second round.
UFC veterans were not the only combatants to grab attention; the event also created opportunities for emerging fighters looking to make their mark. The anticipation and atmosphere set the stage for a vibrant night of fights, which, according to analysts, could lead to a brighter future for fighters in the Dirty Boxing sphere.
Dirty Boxing, which incorporates unique rule sets compared to traditional boxing, aims to provide a platform for both seasoned professionals and novice fighters alike. With the success of its debut event, organizers plan to schedule additional matches in the coming months.
