Montana Grizzlies Vs Cal Poly Mustangs Football Game

The No. 8 Montana Grizzlies are set to take on the Cal Poly Mustangs in a Big Sky Conference matchup on Saturday, November 2, 2024. This game marks the Grizzlies’ fourth road game of the season and their first visit to San Luis Obispo since 2018.

Montana, currently 6-2 overall and 3-1 in Big Sky Conference play, is coming off a strong performance where they pitched a shutout against Northern Colorado. The team is looking to extend their winning streak to three games before returning home for their next two matches.

Cal Poly, with a record of 2-5 and 1-3 in the Big Sky Conference, had a bye last week and is seeking to capitalize on the extra preparation time. Their lone league win came against Northern Colorado, and despite their record, they have shown resilience, particularly in a close road contest against Idaho.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. Mountain time and will be broadcast on CBS affiliates KPAX in Missoula, KTVQ in Billings, and KRTV in Great Falls. It will also be available on ESPN+.

Montana’s quarterback Logan Fife leads the team with 1195 passing yards and 9 touchdowns, while Cal Poly’s Giancarlo Woods is fresh from a 102-yard, 2-touchdown performance. The Grizzlies are favored to win, with odds requiring them to win by 21 points or more to cover the spread.

UM head coach Bobby Hauck acknowledged the challenges of the road trip and the potential complexity of Cal Poly’s game plan due to their extra week of preparation. “They’re extremely well coached, offense, defense, special teams,” Hauck said. “Head coach (Paul Wulff) knows what he’s doing. They’re always really difficult to plan for and to beat”).
