Gianluca Caprari Monza Football Match

UDINE, ITALY – May 11, 2025 – Monza achieved a stunning 2-1 victory against Udinese, marking their first win since January and only their third of the season. Goals from Gianluca Caprari and Keita Balde secured the unexpected win in a Serie A match on Sunday.

Coach Kosta Runjaic made just one change to his starting lineup following a recent 2-1 victory over Cagliari, bringing in Martin Payero for Sando Lovric. Meanwhile, Udinese’s Alessandro Nesta implemented three changes, replacing Luca Caldirola, Tomasa Palacios, and Dany Mota with Arvid Brorsson, Andrea Carboni, and Omari Forson.

In the first half, Udinese created several promising chances, with Hassane Kamara making an acrobatic scissor kick attempt, while Oumar Solet and Keinan Davis also threatened the Monza goal. Monza struggled offensively, with their only attempt in the first half failing to hit the target, leaving the teams level at 0-0 at halftime.

Shortly after the interval, Monza surprised the crowd by taking the lead. Samuele Birindelli made a significant run down the right, hitting the woodwork with his shot, allowing Caprari to score from the rebound. Initially, there was concern that the goal was scored with Caprari’s arm, but after a lengthy VAR review, the goal was upheld.

Udinese equalized in the 75th minute through substitute Lorenzo Lucca, who connected with a long ball from Karlstrom, striking hard from a tough angle. However, with minutes remaining, Monza secured the win when Keita Balde scored from close range after a flick from Kevin Zeroli.

Caprari opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, followed by Lucca’s response in the 75th, and Balde clinched the match in the 90th, leaving Monza with a thrilling victory.
