Ja Morant Sidelined with Hip Injury: Impact on Memphis Grizzlies
Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant is facing a significant setback at the start of the NBA season due to a hip injury. As announced by the team on Saturday, Morant is considered week-to-week and does not have a specific timetable for his return.
This injury adds to the list of health issues plaguing the Grizzlies, with several key players currently out. Besides Morant, other notable players like Vince Williams Jr., Cam Spencer, Marcus Smart, and Desmond Bane are also dealing with injuries. Williams Jr. is recovering from a lower leg injury and has been assigned to the G League for practice, while Spencer is expected to be re-evaluated in about three weeks due to an ankle injury. Smart and Bane are both out with a right ankle sprain and an oblique strain, respectively, and are also considered week-to-week.
The absence of Morant, who is a crucial component of the Grizzlies’ lineup, could significantly impact the team’s performance. The Grizzlies are currently leading the Southwest Division, but maintaining this position without key players will be a challenging task.
