Phoenix Suns Vs Detroit Pistons Nba Exhibition At Msu

In a unique display of Michigan State University (MSU) pride, an NBA exhibition game has been scheduled between the Phoenix Suns and the Detroit Pistons. The event highlights the connection between two MSU alumni and current NBA team owners, Mat Ishbia and Tom Gores.

Mat Ishbia, who walked on for MSU’s 2000 national championship-winning team under coach Tom Izzo, is now the owner of the Phoenix Suns. Tom Gores, owner of the Detroit Pistons, also graduated from MSU, creating a special connection for this preseason game held at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.

Reflecting on the significance of the event, Tom Izzo stated, “Having an NBA game on campus featuring two Spartan alums as owners shows the power of Michigan State and the talent and quality of people that come from our great University.” Izzo expressed his enthusiasm about showcasing NBA basketball to the MSU community.

The game, which will feature notable players such as Suns guard Devin Booker, a Michigan native, promises to draw a local audience. Tickets are available for purchase starting at $15 through various outlets, including the Spartan Ticket Office.

The Detroit Pistons, coming off a preseason win, will face the Suns, who also won their preseason opener. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, at 7 p.m. and will be available for viewing on Bally Sports Detroit and listening on WXYT-FM (97.1).

There are several player updates ahead of the game. Pistons’ Ausar Thompson returns after injuries, while Tobias Harris is out due to illness. For the Suns, Grayson Allen is out for personal reasons, and Jusuf Nurkic is on day-to-day evaluation.
