Multiple Injured in Separate Vehicle Accidents in Alabama

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Two separate vehicle accidents in Madison County and Athens on Friday night left several individuals injured, with one person sustaining life-threatening injuries.
The first incident occurred around 9:29 p.m. on Blake Bottom Road near Bishop Road. According to Huntsville Emergency Services Inc. spokesperson Don Webster, a two-vehicle wreck resulted in four individuals being transported to Huntsville Hospital and Trauma Services. All are reported to be in stable condition, while the investigation into the wreck is ongoing.
“Emergency responders acted swiftly to ensure that those injured received the necessary care,” Webster said. “We are continuing to gather more details as the investigation progresses.”
As first responders were managing the situation in Huntsville, a second serious incident unfolded in Athens. Around 11:16 a.m., officials reported a major collision at the intersection of Hwy. 72 and Brownsferry Street. Five people were injured in that accident, with reports indicating one individual is in critical condition.
“Paramedics transported all injured parties to the hospital shortly after the accident,” a representative from the Athens Police Department confirmed. “We have since cleared the scene, but the investigation is ongoing.”
Authorities urge drivers in the region to proceed with caution, particularly with the severe weather expected to impact Madison County and the surrounding areas this weekend. Officials are advising residents to prepare emergency plans in case of hazardous conditions.
“Our priority is the safety of the community,” said a local official. “We encourage everyone to stay aware of the weather conditions and to have a safety plan in place.”
The public can stay informed as updates develop in both cases, with local news outlets, including WAFF, providing coverage on related incidents.
