Nahir Albright Boxing Match

NORFOLK, Virginia — Nahir Albright is set to face Kelvin Davis this Saturday at Scope Arena, motivated by the desire for a rematch with his former opponent, Keyshawn Davis. Albright edged out Keyshawn by majority decision in October 2023 and is determined to leave no doubt in his upcoming fight.

“Hopefully, after I beat his brother, it’ll spark something in him and we’ll run it back,” Albright said about his desire for another matchup with Keyshawn. The bout was elevated to co-feature status on ESPN after Keyshawn’s title defense against Edwin De Los Santos was canceled due to weight issues.

The match is significant for both fighters. Albright, who hails from Sicklerville, New Jersey, has not competed in a sanctioned bout since his fight with Keyshawn. He believes that Kelvin agreed to fight him now because of his inactivity. “They’re thinking [the layoff] is gonna play a part,” Albright said. “I’m better than I was in the Keyshawn fight.”

Keyshawn Davis, who holds an undefeated record of 13-0, praised Kelvin’s progress in their training camp. Kelvin, a southpaw standing at 6 feet 1 inch, remains unbeaten but will face a tougher opponent in Albright.

In their previous fight, judges Robert Hoyle and David Sutherland scored the bout 96-94 and 97-93 in favor of Keyshawn, while judge John Basile scored it a draw at 95-95. However, Davis’s win was later changed to a no-contest due to a positive marijuana test, which Albright described as a “gift and a curse.”

“It was disappointing, but I stayed positive, kept working,” Albright said. He remained active by training with top-notch boxers like Shakur Stevenson and participating in the Team Combat League.

This weekend’s matchup will be the first fight for Kelvin Davis since he has moved up to the junior welterweight division. The televised card will kick off with their fight, followed by lightweight contender Abdullah Mason taking on Jeremia Nakathila in the main event.
