Naomi Osaka faced a rollercoaster of emotions and nerves as she secured her first victory in a Grand Slam tournament in over two years at the French Open against Lucia Bronzetti.

The former world No. 1 player battled past unseeded Italian player Lucia Bronzetti in a tightly contested first-round match, ultimately winning 6-1, 4-6, 7-5.

Osaka’s nerves got the better of her as she found herself in a tight spot after initially cruising to a 4-0 lead in the final set.

Despite the turbulent match, Osaka managed to regain her composure, relying on her strong serve and determination to close out the win.

Following her victory, Osaka expressed relief at breaking her Grand Slam match win drought, dating back to January 2022 at the Australian Open.

Looking ahead, Osaka could potentially face tournament favorite Iga Swiatek in the next round, setting the stage for an exciting matchup between the two top players.

If she meets Swiatek on the court, Osaka sees it as an honor and a challenge, knowing that Swiatek has previously triumphed at the French Open.

Meanwhile, Jelena Ostapenko, the ninth seed, also secured her spot in the second round with a 6-4, 7-5 win against Jaqueline Cristian.
