Rock N Roll St Jude Marathon Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Nashville prepares for the annual Rock N’ Roll St. Jude marathon today, expecting about 25,000 runners to take over the streets. The marathon is a popular event that draws participants from across the globe.

Starting early Saturday morning at 3 a.m., several major roads including Broadway, Demonbreun, James Robertson Parkway, and Belmont Boulevard will be closed to accommodate the marathon. Race director Adam Zocks advised residents to plan their routes accordingly if they need to access Downtown Nashville, Music Row, 12th South, or Metro Center this weekend.

Zocks reassured the public that roads will open as runners pass through. “It’s not a situation when it’s till the last runner’s clear, and we don’t open anything. But as we’re moving forward, roads are being opened,” he explained.

More than 500 police and security officials will monitor the event, ensuring safety and managing traffic flow throughout the marathon route. Zocks added that there are access lanes available even during the race, allowing movement across intersections.

The marathon has been a Nashville institution for 25 years, creating a sense of community among residents and participants alike. “It’s all about looking out for the ones enjoying the run and the ones avoiding the madness,” he said.

Roads are expected to be cleared by 2 p.m. after the race concludes near Shelby Park, where closures will last the longest. Public transportation, including WeGo buses, will also see detours starting as early as 4 a.m. and lasting until noon.

For further details about the marathon and road closures, check local news outlets or official marathon websites.
