NBA Names March’s Top Players, Rookies and Coaches

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The NBA has announced its Players, Rookies, Defensive Players, and Coaches of the Month for March 2025, recognizing stellar performances from across the league. Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chicago Bulls guard Coby White earned the title of Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Month, respectively.
Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder to an NBA-best 15-1 record in March, marking the best month in franchise history. With an average of 34.7 points per game, he also topped the league in scoring during the month while contributing 7.4 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.14 steals per game. His performance solidified his status as a key figure heading into the playoffs.

On the eastern side, White averaged 27.7 points, ranking ninth in the NBA, along with 4.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. He made headlines with a career-long streak of 15 consecutive games, scoring 20 or more points, and his March was highlighted by a double-double on March 29, where he posted a career-high 11 rebounds to go with 25 points.

In addition to the players, the league recognized Golden State Warriors forward-center Draymond Green and Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels as the Defensive Players of the Month. Green averaged 1.9 steals—ranking third in the West—and played a crucial role in helping the Warriors maintain the fourth-best defensive rating in the league at 109.7.

For Daniels, he led the NBA in steals with a remarkable 3.3 steals per game, alongside 5.4 deflections and 3.1 forced turnovers per contest. At just 22 years old, he became the youngest player since 1974 to achieve 200 steals in a single season.

As for the rookies, San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle and Atlanta Hawks forward Zaccharie Risacher were honored as the Rookies of the Month. Castle averaged a rookie-best of 19.5 points along with 4.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists, becoming the only Spurs player alongside legends like David Robinson and Tim Duncan to win the award multiple times in a season.

Risacher averaged 16.3 points, marking his best monthly average this season, including a career-high performance against Milwaukee. His consistency earned him back-to-back Rookie of the Month honors.

Lastly, Oklahoma City Thunder coach Mark Daigneault and Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla were recognized as the Coaches of the Month. Daigneault achieved his third career award this month, guiding the Thunder to not only a stellar 15-1 record in March but also securing the Northwest Division title and the top playoff seed in the West.

Mazzulla led the Celtics to a 14-1 record, the best in the Eastern Conference, including a perfect 6-0 road trip, marking a franchise-first achievement. His team maintained the highest net rating in the East, showcasing strong defensive efforts by limiting opponents to 107.7 points per game.
