NBA’s Oldest Players Set Records in Thrilling Finale

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — In a remarkable display of endurance, Chris Paul concluded the NBA regular season by starting in all 82 games for the San Antonio Spurs. This milestone marks Paul as the first player in history to achieve this feat in his 20th NBA season.
With age-defying performances, Paul, who turns 40 in less than a month, made history by appearing in all games, surpassing the previous record held by John Stockton in his 19th season. Paul’s consistent presence on the court was a significant contributor to the Spurs’ successful campaign, culminating in a thrilling comeback win against their rivals on Sunday.
“It’s crazy,” Paul said regarding his achievement. “You’re not really thinking about it when you’re in the season. It’s about the next game. Now looking back, it feels surreal.”
Paul was among six players who managed to start 82 games this season. Noteworthy names joining him include Harrison Barnes and Mikal Bridges. Barnes, in particular, has now played 304 consecutive games, showcasing impressive durability alongside Paul.
The Spurs’ flawless execution in their final game saw them rally from a daunting 22-point deficit, demonstrating the team’s resilience and strong leadership. Paul’s experience and skill were vital in guiding his teammates through challenges.
“Year 20, this is only the second time in my career playing 82 games,” Paul said. “I have so much respect for Harrison, who is doing this for the third year in a row.”
Other players of note who participated in the season finale included Seth Curry and Kevin Love, each adding their names to the list of consistent performers this season.
Bridges, a notable player in his own right, emphasized his admiration for Paul. “That’s why CP is one of the greatest. His longevity is impressive, though I probably can’t see myself playing that long,” he said.
As the regular season wraps, players like Paul ponder their future. “I know there’s still stuff in the tank for me,” Paul remarked. “The summer will be a great time to evaluate my options.”
While Paul’s current season ends on a high note, questions loom about whether he will return for a 21st season, where he could potentially tie with several other NBA legends, including Robert Parish and Dirk Nowitzki.
