NBA Veteran Isaiah Thomas Set to Join Phoenix Suns on 10-Day Contract
Former NBA star Isaiah Thomas is gearing up for a comeback as he prepares to sign a 10-day contract with the Phoenix Suns, a move that marks his return to the league and to the Suns franchise.
Thomas is anticipated to secure the Suns’ final roster spot, providing depth to the team’s lineup, especially in light of the current absences of guards Damion Lee and Josh Okogie.
The diminutive 5-foot-9 point guard previously played for the Phoenix Suns during the 2014-15 season and later made a significant impact with the Boston Celtics, where he finished fifth in MVP voting in a standout season.
Following his tenure with the Suns, Thomas was traded to the Boston Celtics at the 2015 trade deadline in a deal that saw Marcus Thornton and a first-round draft pick sent to Phoenix, a move that reshaped the team’s roster.
Recently, the 35-year-old veteran player showcased his skills in four games with the Salt Lake City Stars, the G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, displaying impressive statistics with an average of 32.5 points, 5.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
Thomas’ standout performance in the G League included a notable game where he led the Salt Lake City Stars to a 115-110 victory over the Grand Rapids Gold, the affiliate team of the Denver Nuggets.
