Ncaa Baseball Tournament 2025 Regional Preview

Omaha, Nebraska — The 2025 NCAA Division I baseball tournament begins Friday, May 30, with 64 teams competing in the regional round. This year’s tournament promises excitement and competitive spirit as teams strive for the championship title in Omaha.

The regional round is structured as a double-elimination tournament, permitting teams a chance to bounce back after a loss. By the end of Monday, June 2, only 16 teams will advance to the super regionals. Each team aims to put their best foot forward, and some of the top names to watch include Georgia Tech and Ole Miss.

Georgia Tech is coming off a strong season, ranking 15th nationally in batting average at .314 and 11th in slugging percentage at .535. Star player Drew Burress has been exceptional as he leads the team with 18 home runs and a .339 batting average. The team’s depth in pitching has also been a crucial factor in their success.

Ole Miss also presents a formidable challenge with powerful hitters and a strong strikeout rate. They rank top 10 nationally in several offensive categories, including home runs and slugging percentage, making them a team to watch throughout the tournament.

Other noteworthy teams include Western Kentucky and Murray State, each opening with high hopes. Western Kentucky boasts strong offensive and pitching metrics, while Murray State enters as an underdog with a solid roster, aiming to prove they are more than just a low seed.

The regionals are set to captivate baseball fans nationwide, as each match could lead to unexpected outcomes. The competition will continue until the College World Series, which will take place in Omaha from June 13 to June 22/23.
