Ncis: Origins Premiere

The highly anticipated series “NCIS: Origins” is set to premiere on Monday, October 14, on CBS. Fans of the original “NCIS” series are eager to delve into the backstory of one of television’s favorite characters, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, portrayed by Mark Harmon. The latest installment will explore previously undisclosed events from Gibbs’ past.

“NCIS: Origins,” the fifth spinoff of the “NCIS” franchise, opens with a special two-hour episode airing at 9 p.m. following the debut of the new season of “NCIS.” Following its premiere, “NCIS: Origins” will move to a regular 10 p.m. Monday slot. According to network officials, the series is expected to be a standout this season due to its historical connection to the original series.

Mark Harmon, who became synonymous with the role of Gibbs, will narrate the series. However, the character of the young Gibbs will be portrayed by actor Austin Stowell. The new series sets itself apart by introducing audiences to Gibbs’ early career in 1991 at Camp Pendleton, following his transition from the Marines to the Naval Investigative Service.

The supporting cast features Robert Taylor as Jackson Gibbs, young Gibbs’ father, along with Kyle Schmid as Mike Franks, a character from the original series, who acts as Gibbs’ mentor. Mariel Molino, Diany Rodriguez, and Tyla Abercrumbie will also feature prominently as members of the young Gibbs’ circle.

Set against a backdrop of weekly crime investigations, the narrative is expected to unravel Gibbs’ intricate and often dark backstory, shedding light on his motivations and personal demons. The show is poised to capture the attention of loyal “NCIS” audiences due to its seamless integration of character history in a different timeline.

“NCIS: Origins” follows the success pattern of its predecessors, with CBS generally ordering 13-episode runs and extending them based on performance. Industry analysts predict it will receive a positive reception considering the historical success of the “NCIS” franchise, now entering its 22nd season on CBS.

For audiences eager to catch up or revisit episodes, the series will also be available on the streaming platform Paramount+ following its broadcast on CBS.
