Fayetteville, Arkansas – The North Dakota State University (NDSU) Bison baseball team saw its season come to an end on Sunday, losing 11-10 to the Creighton University Bluejays in a dramatic NCAA tournament elimination game. NDSU staged a remarkable comeback after trailing by seven runs, powered by a stellar performance from junior Davis Hamilton.

Facing elimination, the Bison rallied back and gave the Bluejays a scare in the bottom of the ninth inning. Hamilton had a standout day, going 4 for 5 with five RBIs, including a crucial three-run homer that helped NDSU cut the deficit to three runs. The Bison had recently defeated Kansas, finishing their season with a record of 21-34.

NDSU head coach Tyler Oakes praised his team’s perseverance. “What I told the guys afterward, that’s our standard going forward. We expect to win games and play at a high level,” Oakes said. “Our guys continued to battle, showing their true toughness and character.”

Creighton jumped to an early lead with four home runs, gaining a dominating 10-3 advantage by the fourth inning. Despite the odds, NDSU refused to back down. With timely hitting, Hamilton and teammate Dante Smith each contributed key plays, including a late-game rally that tied the score at 10.

In a tense final inning, Creighton managed to bring a runner home from second base, sealing the victory. Hamlet reflected on the team’s inspiring showing, saying, “Awesome atmosphere, but we knew we were here to win it.” NDSU’s effort was commendable, capping a season filled with challenges and determination.
