Nebraska Basketball Ugnius Jarusevicius Central Michigan

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska basketball secured its second commitment of the transfer portal cycle on Saturday, landing forward Ugnius Jarusevicius from Central Michigan. This strategic recruitment provides the Huskers with a promising frontcourt addition as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Jarusevicius, a 6-foot-10, 220-pound Lithuanian, showcased impressive statistics last season, averaging 16.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game for the Chippewas. His performance earned him first-team All-MAC honors, highlighting his efficiency as a scorer, where he shot 53.7% from the field and 71% from the free-throw line.

Previously, Jarusevicius began his college career at California State-Bakersfield before transferring to Central Michigan. In addition to his collegiate experience, he has played in professional leagues in Lithuania and participated in the Lithuanian national team system. He retains one year of eligibility.

“Ugnius is an exceptional talent who has demonstrated his ability to score effectively and draw fouls,” said Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg. “We are excited to welcome him to our roster and expect him to make a significant impact.”

During the past season at CMU, Jarusevicius recorded eight games with at least 20 points, including two standout performances of 32 points in back-to-back games against Kent State and Akron. He excelled even in competition against power conference teams, contributing 11 points and 14 rebounds against Marquette, along with 17 points and four rebounds versus Minnesota.

The addition of Jarusevicius is notable for Nebraska, especially as they seek a strong start in reshaping their roster after some players, including Andrew Morgan and Braxton Meah, are exiting due to eligibility limitations.

Jarusevicius joins former Iowa wing Pryce Sandfort as part of Nebraska’s transfer class this offseason. With the transfer portal being pivotal for rosters across the nation, Nebraska appears to be making strategic moves to bolster their lineup while maintaining a competitive edge in the College Basketball Crown.

As they continue to navigate the transfer portal landscape, fans are eager to see who the Huskers will target next to solidify their squad for the upcoming season.
