Nebraska Huskers Face Creighton in Annual Rivalry Matchup
Lincoln, Nebraska — The Nebraska Cornhuskers women’s basketball team continued its strong season with a commanding 80-46 victory over the Samford Bulldogs, enhancing their record to 2-0. The Huskers are set to clash with the Creighton Bluejays on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m. (CT) at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
In their latest game, Nebraska’s defense was the highlight, forcing 27 turnovers from Samford and converting those into 29 points. Seven Huskers recorded at least one steal during the game, showcasing the team’s defensive depth.
A standout player, sophomore point guard Isaiah Prince, led the Huskers with a game-high 23 points, shooting 10-of-13 from the field. Prince’s early season performance has her averaging 21 points per game, making her a candidate for the Nancy Lieberman Award.
Junior forward Jade Petrie also made her mark, contributing a career-high 20 points and five rebounds. Her performance was crucial, especially during a first-quarter surge that propelled the Huskers to a 21-5 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Huskers built on their lead throughout the game, maintaining a comfortable margin and closing strong. Even though Nebraska struggled with three-point shooting, only hitting 2-of-12 attempts in the first half, their overall accuracy from the field (33-of-65) and solid rebounding (37-31) kept them firmly in control.
Looking ahead, Nebraska will face Creighton, a team with a 1-1 record. The matchup promises to be exciting as the Bluejays are coming off a split in their last week’s games against South Dakota State and Drake. The historical rivalry is set to continue as Nebraska seeks to improve on their all-time series lead of 31-19 over Creighton.
The game will be broadcast live on FS1, with radio coverage available on the Huskers Radio Network. Tickets are currently available through Huskers.com.
