Nebraska Volleyball Dominates Wisconsin on Senior Night, Lexi Rodriguez Shines
In a memorable Senior Night match, the No. 2 Nebraska volleyball team swept No. 6 Wisconsin 25-21, 25-22, 25-17, marking the second time this season the Huskers have swept the Badgers. This achievement is particularly notable as it is the first time since 2012 that Nebraska has swept Wisconsin in both matches of a season.
Lexi Rodriguez, one of the seniors honored during the night, played a crucial role in the victory. She led the Huskers’ back row defense with 16 digs, helping to keep the Badgers’ hitters off balance throughout the match. Her defensive efforts were complemented by teammates Laney Choboy and Olivia Mauch, who contributed eight and seven digs, respectively.
Despite Wisconsin’s statistical advantages in attacks (118-108), aces (3-1), and blocks (11-7), Nebraska’s defense proved to be the deciding factor. The Huskers held the Badgers to a .169 hitting percentage, thanks in large part to their dominant back row defense.
On the offensive side, Rebekah Allick stood out with 10 kills on 12 swings, finishing second on the team in kills. Harper Murray and Taylor Landfair also had strong performances, with Murray contributing nine kills and seven digs, and Landfair adding eight kills and two blocks.
The win extends Nebraska’s home match win streak to 41 games. The Huskers will next travel to face No. 4 Penn State and Maryland in their final two regular season matches.
