Nebraska Volleyball Match Spring 2025

ORD, Neb. (WOWT) – The Nebraska volleyball team is set to play its final spring match against South Dakota State on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ord High School. The highly anticipated match sold out quickly, with tickets gone in just 27 minutes.

This year marks the continuation of Nebraska’s tradition of holding spring matches across the state. Since 2007, the Huskers have traveled to various locations including North Platte and Scottsbluff, giving local communities a chance to experience high-level volleyball.

The match will be broadcast statewide on Nebraska Public Media, streamed online on B1G+, and aired on select Huskers Radio Network affiliates. This season also introduces new head coach Dani Busboom Kelly, who succeeded John Cook after his remarkable run of 25 years.

Busboom Kelly emphasized the importance of these exhibitions for refining techniques, stating, “It’s a way to just be really appreciative of what we have in the state of Nebraska.” The focus for the team will be on execution as they work on offensive plays and building team chemistry.

As the Huskers gear up for the match, they come off a successful outing against Kansas, where they swept the Jayhawks in front of a packed crowd at their home arena. Rebekah Allick, a senior middle blocker, remarked on the nerves during their previous match, highlighting that the smaller crowd in Ord would allow for better focus and execution.

South Dakota State poses a formidable challenge, having finished last season with a 27-3 record and winning the Summit League title. The Jackrabbits will bring a solid roster, including standout players like Sylvie Zgonc, who averaged 4.37 kills per set last season.

Kickoff at Ord High School is set for 2 p.m. CT, promising an exciting atmosphere as local fans witness the Huskers in action. With Nebraska reportedly having 1,499 all-time victories, they are aiming to become the first Division I volleyball program to reach 1,500 wins.
