The Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team continued their impressive season with a dominant victory over the Michigan State Spartans at the Breslin Center in East Lansing on Friday. The Huskers, ranked No. 2 nationally, secured a straight-sets victory with scores of 25-15, 25-19, and 25-15. This win maintains Nebraska’s unblemished record in the Big Ten Conference, moving them to 17-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play, while the Spartans fall to 7-11 overall and 0-7 in the Big Ten.

Standout performances by Nebraska players were a decisive factor in the sweep. Harper Murray and Taylor Landfair led the charge, both securing 12 kills. Landfair posted a hitting percentage of .417, and Murray hit .333. Andi Jackson contributed significantly by adding 10 kills with a formidable .600 hitting percentage, alongside five blocks. These efforts were complemented by Bergen Reilly, who orchestrated the attack with 34 assists and added nine digs.

Throughout the match, Nebraska demonstrated superior play across various aspects. The team recorded a .364 hitting percentage, markedly higher than Michigan State’s .141. Nebraska also had a slight edge in blocking, out-blocking the Spartans 10-4. The Huskers further dominated in kills, totaling 48 to the Spartans’ 31, and in digs, leading 46 to 31.

The match began with Nebraska taking an early lead in the first set. Although Michigan State mounted a brief comeback to take an 8-6 advantage, Nebraska regained control with a 4-0 run and closed the set with a 6-0 surge. The momentum continued in the second set as Nebraska extended their lead after initially going up 7-4, closing out the set with a 5-0 run initiated by Lexi Orr‘s serving.

In the third set, Nebraska maintained their grip on the game with an early 7-5 lead, eventually stretching it to a 23-13 margin, effectively sealing the sweep. The match concluded with Kennedi Orr serving and Beason delivering the final kill to clinch the set and match.

Looking ahead, the Cornhuskers will face Ohio State in an away game scheduled for Saturday, aiming to continue their winning streak. The match will be broadcast live on NBC.
