Necas Powers Hurricanes with Stellar January Performance
RALEIGH, N.C. — Martin Necas continues to shine for the Carolina Hurricanes, delivering a standout performance in January that has reignited his offensive prowess. The 26-year-old winger recorded two assists in Thursday’s 7-4 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets, bringing his total to four assists over his last three games.
Necas has been a key contributor this month, tallying two goals and eight assists in 12 appearances. His recent surge comes after a midseason slump, showcasing his ability to rebound and maintain consistency in a top-six role. Through 49 games this season, Necas has 16 goals, 39 assists, 113 shots on net, 40 hits, and a plus-4 rating.
“He’s been a steady force for us,” said Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour. “When he’s on his game, he elevates our entire offense.”
Necas has already surpassed his 53-point output from last season and is on track to exceed his career-high 71 points from the 2022-23 campaign. His blend of scoring and playmaking makes him a valuable asset in all fantasy hockey formats, particularly for managers seeking consistent offensive production.
Earlier in the week, Necas played a pivotal role in the Hurricanes’ 2-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. Both of his assists came on goals by Jesperi Kotkaniemi, highlighting his ability to drive offense even in low-scoring contests. Through 48 games, Necas has 16 goals, 38 assists, 109 shots on net, and a plus-3 rating.
As the Hurricanes push for playoff positioning, Necas’ resurgence could prove crucial. His ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game—scoring, playmaking, and physicality—makes him a cornerstone of Carolina’s success this season.
