Neighbours Star Troy Beckwith Dies At 48

Beloved Neighbours actor Troy Beckwith, known for his role as Michael Martin on the iconic Australian soap in the 90s, has tragically passed away at the age of 48. Beckwith, who portrayed the infamous villain nicknamed ‘Sicko Micko’, captivated audiences during his six-year stint from 1992 to 1998.

Kym Valentine, who played the character Libby Kennedy on Neighbours, emotionally shared the news on social media, expressing her sorrow over the loss of their dear friend. She further revealed that the star had requested no funeral. Valentine’s touching tribute highlighted their cherished memories together and extended condolences to Beckwith’s loved ones.

No specific cause of death has been disclosed at this time.

Michael Martin, played by Beckwith, gained immense popularity and was hailed as one of the soap’s greatest villains of the 90s. Fans of the show labeled him ‘Sicko Micko’, as he formed a significant presence in lists ranking the best Neighbours characters from that era. Ausculture even compared him to the notorious criminal Charles Manson, while HecklerSpray commended Michael as one of the few convincing antagonists who later underwent a transformation into a more redeemable character.

Following the sad news, Brett Blewitt, currently appearing on the Neighbours revival as Brett Stark, paid tribute to Beckwith, describing him as a kind-hearted and playful person who left this world too soon. Lucinda Cowden, who portrays Melanie Pearson, also shared her grief through a series of broken heart emojis.

Aside from Neighbours, Troy Beckwith also made a name for himself in the children’s series Pugwall, where he played the lead character Jeremy ‘Bazza’ Bazlington. His co-star from the series, Ricky Fleming, penned a heartfelt tribute, reminiscing about their mischievous adventures and the unbreakable bond they shared.
