Jimmy Carr Comedy Podcast Launch

London, England – BBC Studios and Netflix announced today the launch of their new comedy podcast, ‘The Big Pitch With Jimmy Carr‘. This podcast will be co-produced by Netflix Podcasts and BBC Studios Audio, and becomes available for audiences around the globe starting today, May 28.

‘The Big Pitch’ features a lineup of beloved comedians who pitch unique movie ideas to host Jimmy Carr, who is known for his witty and skeptical demeanor. Each episode explores Netflix’s obscure sub-genres, with themes ranging from ‘Steamy Crime Movies from the 1970s’ to ‘Australian Dysfunctional Family Comedies Starring a Strong Female Lead’.

“There are over 27,000 different Netflix sub-categories. And they can get pretty niche,” said the producers in a press release. Guests are tasked with creating plots and casting choices, all while presenting under Carr’s critical eye. At the end of each pitch, Carr decides whether to greenlight the ideas or send them to development hell.

In the series, which comprises 10 episodes, comedians such as Nick Mohammed, Phil Wang, Romesh Ranganathan, Ahir Shah, Kerry Godliman, Michelle Wolf, London Hughes, Chris McCausland, Jamali Maddix, and Asim Chaudhry will make appearances.

<p“By night, I’m a stand-up comedian, but by day I have a proper job in real show business. I commission movies for Netflix,” Carr said while joking about his dual career. “This podcast gives a glimpse behind the scenes of the rigorous pitching process and offers a great chance to have fun with some funny friends.”

The podcast is produced by executive producers Kathryn Huyghue, Erica Brady, and David Markowitz from Netflix, and Pete Strauss from BBC Studios Audio. Additional production team members include Ian Heydon, Mabel Finnegan-Wright, and Becky Carewe-Jeffries.

Listeners can find ‘The Big Pitch With Jimmy Carr’ wherever podcasts are available, with visualized episodes also accessible on the ‘Netflix Is A Joke’ YouTube channel.
