Josh Uche New England Patriots Trade Talks

The New England Patriots have decided to keep linebacker Josh Uche inactive for their game against the New York Jets on October 27, 2024, due to ongoing trade discussions involving the player. Despite not being injured, Uche’s absence is a strategic move to prevent any potential injury that could impact his trade value.

Uche, 26, has been a focal point in trade talks as the NFL trade deadline approaches on November 5th. His contract, particularly attractive to contending teams, has made him a desirable asset. In the 2022 season, Uche showcased his potential with 27 tackles and 11.5 sacks, along with two forced fumbles. However, this season he has seen a more limited role, recording 13 tackles and two sacks in seven games.

The Patriots are reportedly seeking a fifth-round draft pick in exchange for Uche, a price that is considered reasonable given his pass-rushing abilities. This move indicates that the Patriots are likely to trade him if they do not plan to re-sign him, as he is in the final year of his current contract.

Along with Uche, other key players such as rookie wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk, safety Kyle Dugger, quarterback Joe Milton III, offensive lineman Layden Robinson, and defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale are also inactive for the game against the Jets. The Patriots, who have had a tough start to the season with a 1-6 record, face a challenging matchup against a Jets team led by Aaron Rodgers.
