New England Revolution Kicks Off 2025 MLS Season Against Nashville SC

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The New England Revolution officially launch their 2025 Major League Soccer season with a match against Nashville SC on Saturday night. The season opener is set to commence at GEODIS Park at 8:30 p.m. ET, offering the Revolution a chance to demonstrate their revamped roster and ambitions for the year ahead.
Fans can follow the action live in over 100 countries through MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, where English commentary will be provided by Tony Husband and Ross Smith, with Spanish coverage by Oscar Salazar and Jamie Macias. The match can also be broadcast on Boston’s 98.5 The Sports Hub HD2 in English, and on 1260 AM Nossa Radio for Portuguese speakers.
The Revolution ended the 2024 season ranked 14th in the Eastern Conference with a disappointing record of 9 wins, 21 losses, and 4 draws, totaling 31 points. This year, they aim to improve with a roster featuring 14 new signings. Head coach Caleb Porter highlighted the rapidly developing chemistry among players, attributing it to the focused preseason efforts.
“Our focus is to win the next game. Obviously, we know long-term that winning these games leads to making the playoffs,” said Porter. “We need to win a lot more games this year than we did last year.”
Recent history may be on the Revolution’s side; the team won both league encounters against Nashville last season, including a decisive 2-1 victory in their last visit to Tennessee in June 2024.
Nashville SC, which concluded the 2024 season ranked 13th in the Eastern Conference with 9 wins, 16 losses, and 9 draws for 36 points, will be entering the match under the leadership of head coach B.J. Callaghan for his first full season. Though Callaghan confirmed injuries to key players such as Gastón Brugman and Julian Gaines, the Nashville fanbase is anticipated to generate a spirited atmosphere at GEODIS Park.
Key Players to Watch
New Revolution striker Leo Campana, who joined from Inter Miami CF, is poised to make an impact after netting 32 goals in 100 appearances with Miami. Campana’s addition promises to enhance New England’s scoring potential, with fans eager to see his performance following a successful preseason where he scored twice.
“I think it’s going to be a difficult game,” noted Revolution captain Carles Gil. “They’ve played together for many years, but we want to win against them.”
On the opposite side, Nashville’s new midfielder Edvard Tagseth, a 23-year-old Norwegian, arrives from Rosenborg BK, where he contributed 10 goal involvements in 26 matches last season. This will be Tagseth’s first appearance in MLS, and he aims to spark Nashville’s attacks on Saturday.
As both teams prepare for what promises to be a competitive start to the season, anticipation among fans and players alike continues to build. With ambitions for playoff contention heating up, Saturday’s match will offer a critical opportunity for both sides to set the tone for the 2025 campaign.
