Bryan Kohberger University Of Idaho Murders

Moscow, Idaho — In the early hours of Nov. 13, 2022, a white Hyundai Elantra was caught on a neighbor’s security video circling the block near the home of four University of Idaho students who were murdered. The vehicle approached the house repeatedly before it sped away 13 minutes later, raising questions about its possible involvement in the crime.

This new footage was shared in a special airing on NBC’s “Dateline” as part of an investigation into suspect Bryan Kohberger. Prosecutors believe Kohberger murdered Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin in their off-campus home.

The video adds to the mounting evidence against Kohberger, a graduate student in criminology at nearby Washington State University. He was arrested in December 2022 and faces four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary.

Law enforcement officials revealed that Kohberger’s cellphone connected to a tower about 100 meters from the rental house at least 23 times over four months, all during nighttime hours. This included a connection just six days before the attacks.

Investigators discovered DNA on a knife sheath found at the scene, which tested as a match to Kohberger. In the weeks surrounding the murders, Kohberger also searched online for information related to serial killer Ted Bundy and explicit content, generating further concern for prosecutors.

Kohberger’s trial is set to begin on August 11, 2023, before Ada County Judge Steven Hippler. His defense has argued that he often went on long drives at night, which may suggest he was not near the crime scene when the murders took place.

Two surviving roommates from the night of the incident are expected to testify during the trial. As the case progresses, many details remain under a gag order, limiting the information available to the public.
