New York City FC Dominates Atlanta United with 4-0 Victory

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City FC defeated Atlanta United 4-0 on Thursday night, marking a strong performance with Hannes Wolf scoring two goals, and Maxi Moralez contributing a goal and an assist.
This victory improved New York City’s record to 8-6-4, while Atlanta fell to 4-9-5. Notably, NYCFC scored three goals within a five-minute period for the first time in the club’s history.
Mounsef Bakrar initiated the scoring in the 55th minute, finishing a one-touch shot at the penalty spot after a breakaway shot was deflected off Atlanta goalkeeper Brad Guzan. Just two minutes later, Wolf showcased his skill by slotting a difficult-angle shot into the net in the 57th minute.
Wolf then scored again in the 59th minute, converting on a one-on-one chance, despite Guzan getting a touch on it before it trickled into the goal.
Atlanta United has struggled away from home, securing only one draw and suffering five losses in their last five matches. The team aimed to earn its first road win against NYCFC in their regular-season history.
Goalkeeper Tomás Romero made his first MLS start for NYCFC, filling in for several first-team players absent due to international duty. Ronny Deila, who coached NYCFC from 2020 to 2022, faced his former team on the road for the first time.
