New York Jets Injuries Week 7 Steelers Game

The New York Jets are dealing with several key injuries as they took on the Pittsburgh Steelers in their Week 7 matchup on Sunday Night Football. One of the most significant concerns is the injury to star cornerback Sauce Gardner, who appeared to suffer a lower-body injury, possibly to his ankle or knee, in the first half of the game. Despite initial fears, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich indicated that Gardner would attempt to return to the game, highlighting its importance to him.

In addition to Gardner’s injury, the Jets were already without several key players. Cornerback Michael Carter II was ruled out for another week due to a back injury, and cornerback D.J. Reed was inactive with a groin injury. Tight end Tyler Conklin (hip) and linebacker Chazz Surratt (heel) were listed as questionable but did not play. Other inactives for the Jets included running back Israel Abanikanda, wide receiver Malachi Corley, defensive end Braiden McGregor, and offensive tackles Max Mitchell and Carter Warren.

Offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker also suffered an ankle injury just before halftime and was listed as questionable to return. Vera-Tucker limped to the locker room after a sequence where he appeared to be rolled up on, and Xavier Newman-Johnson replaced him at guard. This injury is particularly significant given the importance of Vera-Tucker to the Jets’ offensive line stability.

Safety Tony Adams was also downgraded to doubtful to return in the third quarter, adding to the Jets’ defensive woes. These injuries come at a critical time for the Jets, who are seeking a much-needed victory to improve their 2-4 record and stay in contention for an AFC playoff spot.
