New York Liberty Practice Facility Rendering

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The New York Liberty unveiled new renderings for their proposed $80 million practice facility scheduled for 1200 Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, on April 2, 2025. Designed by Populous, this state-of-the-art complex will provide the defending WNBA champions with 75,000 square feet of training, recovery, and administrative space.

Located along the scenic Newtown Creek at the intersection of Manhattan Avenue and Commercial Street, the facility is designed to enhance the team’s performance and player well-being. The project’s main aerial rendering showcases a modern structure featuring stepped massing topped with green roofs and photovoltaic solar panels.

The complex will house two full-sized practice courts equipped with advanced remote cameras and data tracking technology, along with multiple video displays for on-court film reviews. Additionally, private locker room suites will be available for each player, and the facility will include a two-story indoor-outdoor strength training area with a cardio deck overlooking the courts.

Further enhancing player experience, the facility is planned to feature a dedicated recovery suite, complete with steam rooms, saunas, massage therapy rooms, hydrotherapy, as well as a beauty studio for hair, nails, and makeup. Family-friendly amenities include two private lounges with nursery areas.

To accommodate the needs of the team’s staff, the facility will also provide in-house private chefs and a rooftop deck with a dining area. A broadcast and podcast studio is planned along with a dedicated media workroom and three floors of office space for basketball operations. A retail storefront will further integrate the facility into the community.

The development incorporates existing low-rise buildings at 1164 and 1166 Manhattan Avenue, which will be transformed to accommodate staff offices and dining spaces. Currently, the site is occupied by an open-air parking lot.

The project is fully funded by the Liberty’s ownership group and is aimed at fostering community engagement while expanding the team’s impact throughout Brooklyn and New York City.

The nearest subway access is the 7 train at the Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue station, located across Newtown Creek. The facility is expected to open its doors in 2027, contributing to the revitalization of the area and the Liberty’s ongoing commitment to excellence.
