New York Times Introduces Connections: Sports Edition Puzzle
The New York Times has launched a new version of its popular puzzle game, titled Connections: Sports Edition. This game, currently in beta, is designed specifically for sports enthusiasts and follows the same puzzle-solving mechanics as the regular Connections game, but with all words tied to the world of sports.
To play Connections: Sports Edition, players are given 16 words and must categorize them into four groups based on their connections. The categories are color-coded, with yellow being the easiest and purple the most challenging. However, the difficulty level of each color group is not revealed until the puzzle is solved. The words can include player names, team names, or sport-related activities, making it accessible to a broad range of sports knowledge levels.
For the November 18 edition of the puzzle, the groups are themed around specific sports-related concepts. The yellow group is centered on the theme of “home run,” with the answers being big fly, homer, slam, and tater. The green group focuses on golf equipment brands, including Callaway, Ping, PXG, and Titleist. The blue group is about NFL rushing champions, with the answers Henry, Jacobs, McCaffrey, and Taylor. The purple group, the most challenging, is about members of the 1992 Dream Team, with the answers Barkley, Drexler, Ewing, and Jordan.
The game is available to play for free for the next few weeks as part of the beta testing phase. The New York Times will evaluate its popularity before deciding whether to add it permanently to their Games app.
